EN BOK OM VÄVNING

Det här är en bok både för dig som är nybörjare och för dig som redan väver. Med hjälp av vävnotor och skissövningar visar jag och min kollega Miriam Parkman att handvävning kan vara både modernt och användbart. Boken är en blandning av vävteknik och konstnärlig improvisation, av brukstextilier och konst för vägg och golv. Med vår hjälp lär du dig att väva från skiss till färdig väv. För den vane vävaren finns det gott om inspiration för att hitta nya sätt att se på äldre skandinaviska tekniker. Att väva ger dig verktygen och modet att väva på ditt sätt.

Boken innehåller sexton olika projekt med olika vävtekniker. Till exempel fyra olika ryor, spännande varianter på våffelväv och ett antal projekt där författarna tar sig an samma projekt men med olika slutresultat.

This is a book for both newly minted weavers as well as those with more experience. My colleague Miriam Parkman and I use weaving drafts and sketching prompts to show that handweaving can be modern and useful. The book offers a mix of technical information and artistic improvisation, of “working textiles” and art for your wall or floor. With our help, you’ll learn to weave your own work from sketch to finished piece. The more experienced weaver will find lots of inspiration for finding new ways of looking at traditional Scandinavian techniques. To Weave gives you the tools and the confidence to weave your way.

You’ll find 16 different projects in this book, using different weaving techniques, such as: four knotted rya projects, exciting variations on waffleweave, and a selection of projects where we both use the same basic guidelines and see how differently the finished product turns out.
